Frankfurt is conveniently situated in the heart of both Germany and Europe.
Its international airport, which is directly accessible from all across the globe, is only a few minutes from Frankfurt's main train station, one of the largest in Germany.
Frankfurt is a great walking city, and the vast majority of its downtown destinations may be reached on foot. There is also a well-developed public transport system, which connects Frankfurt with the surrounding Rhine-Main Region both quickly and easily.
Immerse yourself in the 1,200-year history of the Main metropolis. Countless sightseeing attractions serve to highlight both the former and the current importance of Frankfurt am Main. The city stands for innovation and development, and it is a place where trends are set and ideas become reality. Frankfurt's architecture ranks among the most modern in all of Europe. Trendy bars, pubs, up-and-coming fashion labels and a booming creative industry mirrors Frankfurt zeitgeist.
Frankfurt's significance as a bustling international trade and finance location dates back to the Middle Ages. Today, the city is a popular shopping paradise, offering a colourful range of products and services for every taste and every pocketbook.
The city also has a warm and cosy side: rest and recuperate at one of the traditional apple wine pubs of Old Sachsenhausen, visit one of the 48 beautiful parks and gardens or stroll along the river Main, Frankfurt's majestic water-way, which meanders gracefully through the heart of the city.
Frankfurt am Main, the bustling metropolis in the heart of Europe, is known for its unusual contrasts: historical attractions, as the Römerberg with its half-timbered houses, the Emperors' Cathedral or St Paul's Church, are just a stone's throw away from the unique skyline, extraordinary cultural offers, a real shopping eldorado and numerous events throughout the year, which make Frankfurt the perfect destination for an exciting city break.

Whether it’s an award-winning gourmet restaurant, a trendy eatery, international cuisine or a traditional apple wine pub, Frankfurt has something for every taste.
Classics include, amongst others, the famous apple wine, which is served in a "bembel" (a blue-grey stoneware jug) and drunk from a special ribbed glass. Apple wine pubs typically serve the popular beverage with frankfurters, green sauce or "handkäs mit musik", little round cheeses marinated in vinegar and chopped onions. Most of the traditional apple wine taverns are located in Sachsenhausen.
The Freßgass, the city's culinary main street, offers a wide range of cafes, restaurants, bistros and delis lining both sides of the street.
In Frankfurt, many different food markets take place during the week. Several parts of the city have their own market, which is organised at least once a week. There, you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, cheese and dairy produce, flowers and many other products.

There are fun shops in most areas of Frankfurt, but the most popular shopping area is in the centre of the city. The main pedestrian street Zeil offers two classic department stores, Kaufhof and Karstadt. This is also where you will find the MyZeil and the UpperZeil malls.
If you are looking for Gucci, Escada, Versace and other luxury brands, your best bet is to head for Goethestraße, a more exclusive version of Zeil.
In the Sachsenhausen area, south of the river Main, is a more charming shopping area that caters to younger people.
Those who are looking for funkier shopping should go to the Bornheim area. Bergerstraße has exciting design, fashion and vintage shops.
